Background

QXposure is a partnership that originated between the Peel HIV/AIDS Network (PHAN) and the East Mississauga CHC, and now includes Associated Youth Services of Peel.

Responding to the need to reduce barriers to access and to improve the health of all communities dealing with social exclusion, QX began with the intent to create a healthy, safe and proud space for Queer and Trans voices to build healthier communities and to gain improved access to health and wellness resources. QX has principles of anti-racism and anti-oppression in its work on the social determinants of health.

Purpose

To reduce social exclusion and access barriers amongst Queer and Trans communities and Queer and Trans individuals, and raising awareness to the unique determinants of health faced by Queer and Trans individuals through an anti-racist and anti-oppressive approach.

It is mandatory for all members to undergo anti-racism and anti-oppression training before gaining full participation in monthly meetings. Our membership is evolving to 50% community resident based, and QX aims to represent the diversity within Queer and Trans community, including race, gender, age, sexuality, income, and other factors.
